Residential Sharps Collection Program
SCCHD is proud to provide a program that helps residents of St. Clair County safely dispose of medical sharps.
Each year, SCCHD receives numerous inquiries from residents seeking guidance on how and where to properly discard medical sharps used in their homes for personal medical care and treatment. In the past, staff educated residents on proper collection, storage, and disposal practices, but were unable to provide approved sharps containers for home use or accept filled containers for disposal through a permitted PIMW transporter.
Through this program, SCCHD is now able to offer residents approved sharps containers and ensure safe, compliant disposal—supporting both individual safety and community health.
Pickup and drop off of sharps containers are available for St. Clair County residents Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, as well as the second Thursday of the month until 6:30 PM.
