Sites are generally activated if an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.

COOLING SITE ACTIVATION
Cooling Sites agree to open their doors to offer air-conditioned relief and cool water during the hottest part of the day. Sites will be activated if an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.
Heat Advisory – Heat Index is expected to reach 105º F or air temperature reaches at least 100º F.
Heat Warning – Heat Index is expected to reach at least 110º F for 2 consecutive days with a minimum Heat Index no lower than 75º F at night, or if Heat Advisory is expected to last 4 or more days.
